The Google Demo Day Detroit will be held on Tuesday, March 29 2016 at the Grand Circus.
Startups in cities all around the world are building incredible, innovative companies, but many lack access to the robust investment opportunities of Silicon Valley. We recognize that innovation is alive and well far beyond the confines of a few cities.
In April 2014, Google for Entrepreneurs hosted their first annual Demo Day, featuring top startups from Denver to Detroit to Durham. They’re doing it again for the third time year, bringing another cohort of companies to Silicon Valley to pitch for investors. We want to feature you!
The process will start with a local demo day here in Detroit on March 29 at 5:30pm. The qualifications for startups are below and you can fill out the application by Tuesday, March 22 to be considered to pitch in the Google Demo Day Detroit.
Startups will pitch in front of a panel of judges and the community. Judges will deliberate and narrow it down to three finalists who will be submitted to Google. Google will then make the final decision on which startup will be sent to the Googleplex to pitch!
About The Google Demo Day Detroit Opportunity
- Present: Pitch on stage to a full room of investors, VCs, and respected judges at the Google Headquarters in Mountain View
- Elevate: Opportunities to be featured in press coverage around Demo Day
- Connect: Be a part of a global network with this year’s cohort of ambitious founders
- Grow: Receive focused mentoring, feedback, and support from Googlers and Silicon Valley veterans at an exclusive series of talks and workshops
- Explore: Startups will be in Silicon Valley from May 2-5th 2016. Google for Entrepreneurs will cover the cost of hotel accommodations for up to two rooms.
Detroit finalists will pitch in front of the community and a panel of judges. The judges will pick two startups and the community will pick the third startup to submit to Google. Google will then pick one startup to pitch in Mountain View May 2-5, 2016.
Qualifications
- Must be legally incorporated and headquartered in the United States, Canada, or Mexico.
- Can be from a wide range of verticals (B2B, B2C, etc.). Technology startups preferred but not required.
- Need to be actively raising a Series A round (or roughly $1,000,000 – $4,000,000 USD).
- Need to be able to travel to Silicon Valley May 2-5th, 2016.
The Judges for The Google Demo Day Detroit
- Dr. Lauren Bigelow: The CEO of the Growth Capital Network, she has held leadership roles in the entrepreneur eco-system in Michigan and nationally since 2000.
- Patti Glaza: Vice President, and Managing Director, Detroit Innovate & First Step Fund. Making change, one investment at a time at Invest Detroit Ventures.
- Jill Ford: As Detroit Mayor Duggan’s Special Advisor, Jill Ford heads the City of Detroit’s innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives.
- Terry Cross: The founder of Windward Associates, a Michigan venture consulting business.
